A Nose Job Needed For Your Nose?
Why Rhinoplasty May Not Be The Best Solution
Nose job or to give it its correct name, rhinoplasty is a surgical
procedure which is performed to either improve the appearance or the function of the nose. Nose jobs have been around for a very long
time, in fact one can trace them back to 500 BC India. However, it is the nose jobs of the rich and famous, particularly the Jackson
siblings that has ensured that this procedure is well accepted by anyone wishing to change the dynamics of their face. Large noses
have often been a great cause for embarrassment, particularly among women, so much so that they often hate to appear in public.
It is for these people that nose job will offer life-changing results.
Because the nose is located in such a prominent position on the face, that is where people first make eye contact, a great deal of
anxiety is often given to its appearance. The nose in fact, should provide a balanced focal point to the face, and any lumps, bulges or
irregular shapes do not provide a harmonious curvature. Aesthetic surgery or a nose job, is probably one of the most common
cosmetic procedures that allows for the nose to be reshaped to create a more pleasing balance with the other facial features.
The benefits of a nose job are far greater than just the aesthetic appearance. It is to the area of self esteem that the nose job will
have the greatest impact. Most patients will report that their nose job has had an extremely positive effect on the way that they see
themselves. This then will in turn affect how other people see them. So even though the effects of a nose job are indeed cosmetic, their
emotional benefits are among the highest of all cosmetic procedures.
Nose job can virtually transform any large or small nose. Not restricted just to size, a nose job may entail removing a bump,
straightening a crooked nose, reshaping the tip of the nose, and even increasing a short nose. Restricted breathing caused by a
nose abnormality or an injury is also one of the many reasons that a person will choose to have his or her nose operated on. Because
the nose is the most defining characteristic of the face, a slight alteration or nose job can greatly improve the appearance.
Having a nose job or rhinoplasty is not for everyone. The best candidates for a nose job in fact are people who are looking to
improve their facial looks but not for perfection. Unrealistic expectations with any cosmetic surgery procedures are going to be
the cause of disappointment. This is where it is important to have a
good relationship with your surgeon where you can discuss your nose job and preferably be able to see a computer generated
image of the changes. Most surgeons will not perform a nose job on teenagers until they have completed their growth spurt at around 15
years of age.
If the nose job surgery is carried out by a qualified plastic surgeon then any complications are rare and usually of a minor nature.
However nose jobs are a surgical procedure that require the use of an anesthetic, and this alone always carries a slight risk of reaction.
The chance of infection with a nose job is rare if carried out by a professional team, but it is nevertheless still a consideration, and so
are the possibility of nosebleeds. The figures indicate that in about one tenth of all nose job procedures, there may be a second
procedure that will be required to correct a minor deformity. These little problems happen to even the most skilled of all cosmetic
surgeons.
