Wrinkles - How Can You Use
Effective Wrinkle Treatments To Benefit Your Appearance

Wrinkles are the result of ageing and skin damage which has accumulated over time. Too much sun, smoking and bad diet have long been known to exacerbate the natural ageing process resulting in premature ageing and those tell-tale wrinkles. Thanks to great advances in technology, there is now a wide range of treatments
that are available to men and women to combat wrinkles. It wasn't all that long ago that the choices for eliminating wrinkles were restricted to a full facelift. This was costly, drastic and painful, but today professional assessment provides many different treatments that can either remove or lessen facial wrinkles.

Laser skin resurfacing has become one of the most popular forms of wrinkle control. This is possibly due to the fact that laser skin resurfacing is minimally invasive. During the treatment, the laser delivers a pulse of energy which removes the outer skin wrinkle layer. Specific areas can be targeted such as where the wrinkles
are more noticeable, but laser skin resurfacing can be applied to areas such as under the eyes or upper lip, as well as the whole face.

One of the other more popular forms of controlling wrinkles is through chemical peels and dermabrasion. During the chemical peel treatment, a chemical is applied to the skin which removes the epidermis and penetrates the dermis. Naturally there will be some discomfort after as the skin settles down, but it does successfully
smooth out wrinkles particularly around the mouth and eyes. Dermabrasion on the other hand relies on a high-speed rotating brush to slough off the layers of skin around the areas of wrinkles. This procedure is often used to smooth deeper scars and more pronounced wrinkles. All of these three procedures for the removal
of wrinkles result in different recovery times and they are quite different procedures. Discussion with your cosmetic surgeon to fully understand each process, and to understand any potential problems is important.

The other very popular type of procedure for wrinkles are the injectables which are fast gaining popularity as the new lunch-time facial treatments. These can be in the form of muscle relaxants, or fat injections. The muscle relaxants are actually injected into the muscle which then has the effect of reducing wrinkles such as crows' feet or frown lines. Another procedure to fight wrinkles is by using fat injections. This involves using the patients own fat, which is then injected into the wrinkles or depressions. The downside of this treatment is that fat has variable longevity, and without proper specialist care, maximum benefits will not be achieved.

Because the treatments and recovery times for the removal of wrinkles are so varied, proper consultation with a qualified cosmetic surgeon is essential. There are not many risks associated with many of the wrinkle procedures, but you need to know them, and also how long each type of wrinkle treatment lasts. For example
muscle relaxant injections only last from 3 to 5 months, and chemical peels will see you off work from between 1 to 2 weeks. Many people start out with the least invasive type of treatment for wrinkles particularly if they are in their 30's, such as dermabrasion. Wrinkles need not be suffered by anyone these days. Once the domain of women, men are increasingly participating in these procedures for the removal of wrinkles.
